Biomed Research and Technologies (BRT) performs basic and applied research leading to the development of innovative technologies for medical and consumer health applications.

We are pleased to announce the development of its first commercializable product, a topical formulation which enhances the ability of skin to increase its own lipid production to reconstruct and rejuvenate its protective barrier layer. This makes available the potential for the following applications:

• Heal skin lipid-related disorders: atopic dermatitis, eczema, ichthyosis, contact dermatitis

• Prevention of skin barrier ulceration: bed ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers

• Reduction in skin damaging side effects of medications: chronic steroid users; users of cholesterol-lowering drugs

• Prevention of diaper rash among infants and adult incontinents

• Prevention of injury from environmental agents: exposure to skin irritants, irradiation

• Reduction in skin damage in diabetics

• Reduction in skin damage in post-menopausal women

• Reduction in skin damage in smokers

• Rejuvenation of skin for the aging population

• Reduction in skin irritation and udder infection in dairy cows (bovine mastitis)
