ABOUT

Biomed Research and Technologies (BRT) is a Pittsburgh, PA-based research and development firm that has been funded by state and federal technology investment programs to develop novel technologies. BRT is actively seeking corporate partners for field-specific licensing of its skin barrier technology.

The BRT pro-lipid formulation has been tested in humans and found to (a) reduce moisture loss, a test of skin barrier function, and (b) increase the production of lipids, a test of biologic activity of the formulation. BRT is now seeking licensing partners to undertake manufacturing and marketing efforts in various market niches.

Principals

Harbhajan (Harry) S. Paul, Ph.D., President & Director of Research
Dr. Paul is the founder of BRT. He received his Ph.D. degree in Nutrition-Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota. He then completed two years of postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Hohenheim in Germany. For 20 years, he was a full-time faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Paul has over 100 published articles, book chapters and abstracts.

Gail Sekas, M.D., Ph.D., Medical Director
Dr. Sekas received her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Case Western Reserve University. She completed her residency training and clinical fellowship at the Boston VA Medical Center. She completed one-year of postdoctoral fellowship at MIT. Dr. Sekas is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Gastroenterology. Prior to joining BRT, she was a full-time faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine for 10 years. Dr. Sekas has more than 50 published articles, book chapters and abstracts.
